Parenting classes are offered in Philadelphia for
parents striving to retain or regain custody of their children. Through an
interactive approach, the classes teach parents how to meet their children’s
diverse needs and prevent child abuse and neglect. Parents learn more effective
methods of keeping their children safe and providing environments conducive to
healthy development. For a schedule of parenting classes, see the
calendar under Events and News.
The Adolescent Initiative Program provides life skills
training, household management, employment and education counseling, and
referral and support services for adolescents aged 16 to 18 in the child welfare
or juvenile justice systems in Bucks County. With a focus on the skills
necessary for self-sufficiency, the program offers a wide range of skill
specialties, including financial aid assistance, employability readiness and
life skills training. Aftercare services continue till age 21 following completion of
the basic life skills training, in order to prevent homelessness or entry into
the adult welfare system.
